The extension saves words from the subtitles of Netflix, YouTube, Crunchyroll, Disney+, Prime Video and Apple TV+, explains words on any page, and puts any article into reader mode. It isn't on the Chrome Web Store yet, so installing it takes a few manual steps:

1. Download the extension (zip file) below.
2. Unzip it anywhere on your computer.
3. Open chrome://extensions and turn on Developer mode (top right).
4. Click "Load unpacked" and select the unzipped folder.
5. Click the VOX icon in Chrome's toolbar and sign in with the same Google account you use here.

Play anything on Netflix, YouTube, Crunchyroll, Disney+, Prime Video or Apple TV+ with subtitles in the language you're learning. The extension shows dual subtitles: the show's line, in which every word is clickable, with yours right below it. Click a word as it goes by (pausing first also works) and it's highlighted and saved, together with the audio around it, the scene thumbnail, and the full sentence.

Each capture becomes a flashcard on Learn, so you review the word with the exact scene it came from.

Reading an article or a forum in your target language? Right-click the word and choose Explain word. You get a plain-language explanation right on the page, and the word is saved to your dictionary with the sentence you found it in.

One click on the VOX icon puts the page you're reading into reader mode: every word becomes clickable, exactly like subtitles. Click a word to see what it means and save it, or translate a whole sentence right under itself when one word isn't the problem. Words you save while browsing join the same deck as everything else.

Met a word away from the screen, in a class, a conversation, a paper book? Go to Add word and type it in. VOX builds the card for you: a translation, an example sentence, and an explanation.

Upload a book to your Library (EPUB, PDF, DOCX, FB2, HTML, TXT and Markdown all work) and read it in the built-in reader. Click any word to see what it means and save it with its sentence. Your reading position is remembered per book, so you can pick up where you left off on any device.
